Do you suffer from dry, irritated, gritty, or burning eyes that just won’t improve, even with drops or compresses? At Goldberg Centre Vision Correction, we understand how chronic dry eye can disrupt your comfort, productivity, and quality of life — and we are here to offer real, lasting relief.
Led by Dr. Chaim Goldberg, an ophthalmic specialist with over 42 years of experience, Goldberg Centre is proud to offer the iLux® and Mibo Thermoflo® procedures — a breakthrough, in-office treatment that targets the root cause of dry eye: Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) to alleviate discomfort.

Your visit begins with a thorough assessment by Dr. Goldberg, who has over 42 years of ophthalmic expertise. We perform specialized testing to assess your tear quality, quantity, and gland function. Dr. Goldberg will identify the root cause of your symptoms — often Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), which leads to an unstable tear film and rapid tear evaporation. You’ll receive a clear, personalized explanation of your condition and why iLux® or other treatments are recommended.

Once confirmed as a candidate, you’ll undergo the iLux® and or Mibo Thermoflo® procedure, a quick, comfortable in-office treatment. A gentle, handheld device is applied to the eyelids, using precisely controlled heat and pressure to unblock the oil glands. The entire procedure typically takes 10–15 minutes per eye. Most patients report little to no discomfort — only a warm, gentle pressure sensation.

After treatment, Dr. Goldberg will guide you through simple aftercare steps. You may be advised to use artificial tears, eyelid hygiene routines, or other supportive therapies to maintain results. A follow-up visit may be scheduled to assess improvement and discuss any further treatments, ensuring long-term dry eye relief.
Dry eye is a common condition where your eyes do not produce enough tears, or the tears produced are of poor quality, leading to discomfort, irritation, or blurred vision.
Healthy tears are made of three layers — oil, water, and mucus — that work together to keep the eye surface smooth, hydrated, and protected. When something disrupts this balance, it can result in dryness, burning, a gritty sensation, light sensitivity, and even watery eyes (as the eye overproduces poor-quality tears to compensate).
Combining Mibo Thermoflo® and iLux® allows us to deliver a comprehensive, layered approach to treating Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), the most common cause of dry eye.
Mibo Thermoflo® uses gentle continuous heat applied externally over the eyelids to loosen hardened oils.
iLux® then applies targeted heat and pressure directly to the glands to express blockages.
This combination ensures deeper gland cleansing, improved oil flow, and more lasting relief than using either treatment alone.
Mibo Thermoflo® is typically used first, providing soothing, external warming to prepare the glands. iLux® follows with precise, handheld expression of the oil glands, ensuring any residual blockages are cleared. Together, they optimize tear film quality, reduce inflammation, and enhance eye comfort.
The combined treatment is done comfortably in-office and usually takes about 30–45 minutes total. Most patients feel gentle warmth and light pressure but no pain. Afterward, you may notice some temporary redness or mild blurriness, but most people return to normal activities the same day — and many report noticeable symptom improvement within days.
While many patients enjoy months of relief after a combined Mibo Thermoflo® and iLux® session, dry eye is often a chronic condition. Dr. Goldberg will recommend a personalized maintenance plan, which may include periodic treatments and home care (like lubricating drops and eyelid hygiene) to keep your eyes healthy and comfortable long-term.
