What Is Lasik Eye Treatment?

LASIK surgery is one of the most popular refractive surgeries around today. Patients are seeing amazing results all over. It’s safe, quick, and most importantly, it works!

The LASIK procedure itself is a short procedure. It always starts with a consultation to determine whether or not you are a candidate. If LASIK is suitable for you, your doctor will take specific measurements and maps of the surface of your eye. With this information, your doctor will know the exact corrections you need for better vision.

Once your doctor has everything they need, you will come back for your surgery! The LASIK procedure starts with a local anesthesia and a mild sedative so that the patient is as comfortable as possible. Your eye doctor will then create a thin corneal “flap” using either a traditional instrument called a microkeratome, or a femtosecond laser. Once the flap is created, leaving the deeper layers of your cornea exposed, your doctor can make the needed adjustments with an excimer laser. The flap is then replaced and acts as a natural bandage, no stiches necessary.

The recovery from LASIK is generally easy and fast, and vision is improved very quickly. So many have undergone this procedure with life changing results. If you are tired of the hassle of eyeglasses and contact lenses, contact Goldberg Centre in Toronto and see if LASIK surgery or LASIK alternatives might may be right for you!
